• Peder Balke-senteret at Toten provides an insight into the life and work of Peder Balke – born on Helgøya. His work was exhibited at the National Gallery in London in 2015, and this year there is a Peder Balke exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. A guided tour is provided, and you will see some of his wall paintings – the pride of the gallery!

• An opportunity, for those who wish, to visit the café ‘Peders Fristelser’ where you can buy coffee and cakes. A shop offering local products is also available.

• Amtmannsgården Stenberg is a well-preserved former home of a District Governor and member of the Norwegian Constituent Assembly, and is a historic residence similar to the one that has been recreated in the Eidsvoll building – but in its original form. The yard, buildings, and park have retained their early 19th century character, and this was where the Eidsvoll man, Lauritz Weidemann, lived with his wife Ditlevine and their children throughout the 1800s. A guided tour gives you an insight into the lives of people of both higher and lower standing in this unique household.

• A 2-course hot meal is served in the idyllic ‘Ditlevines utsikt’ situated close to Stenberg. Along with the delicious food, you are treated to spectacular views of Mjøsa!
